NCAA Clearinghouse
NCAA Clearinghouse is the first of many steps for the college-bound student athlete. If you need more information or want to read more, please see: http://www.ncaapublications.com/productdownloads/CBSA.pdf
What is the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Clearinghouse?
The Clearinghouse is the organization that determines whether prospective college athletes are eligible to play sports at NCAA Division I or Division II institutions. It does this by reviewing the student athlete’s academic record, SAT or ACT scores, and amateur status to ensure conformity with NCAA rules.
How do students register with the clearinghouse?
Students can register online at the NCAA Clearinghouse. There are multiple questions about their sports history, personal information, and a payment due at the end of the process. This payment can be waived and the student should seek their NCAA representative on campus if they are on free/reduced lunch or paid for the SAT/ACT with a fee waiver. Additionally, the student must send a copy of their transcript and SAT/ACT scores to the Clearinghouse at the beginning, middle, and end of their senior year.
*Registration should be done at the beginning of the student’s junior year, but can be done as late the spring of the senior year. It is important to note that recruiters will have extremely limited contact with the student prior to registration with the clearinghouse.
How is my eligibility determined?
The NCAA uses a formula to determine your eligibility that is pretty straight-forward.
